Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • Adults undergoing lumbar spinal surgery

Exclusion

  • Lack of informed patient consent
  • Acute or chronic renal failure
  • Known allergy or intolerance to pethidine or tramadol
  • Chronic respiratory insufficiency
  • Epidural contraindicated (coagulopathy, systemic infection)
