- DISEASE CHARACTERISTICS:
- Confirmed diagnosis of prostate cancer
- Hot flash score ≥ 4 per day
- Prior or concurrent treatment with 1 of the following :
- Bilateral orchiectomy
- Gonadotropin releasing-hormone (GnRH) agonist or antagonist therapy
- Antiandrogen therapy
- PATIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
