Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • carcinoma of the esophagus, operable stage I to III

Exclusion

  • patients who were inoperable,
  • patients who had obvious impaired blood supply of gastric substitutes, and
  • patients who had non-cervical esophagogastrostomy.
