Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion
- 18-65 years of age
- Undergoing elective abdominal or bariatric surgery
Exclusion
- Intercurrent infections
- Active cancer diagnosis within 5 years
- Use of medications for diabetes or hyperlipidemia
- Use of glucocorticoids or anti-inflammatory drugs
