Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • morbid obese patients scheduled for bariatric surgery, with a planned awake intubation.

Exclusion

  • inability to communicate in English or french
  • allergies to any study drugs
  • any patient with an American society of anesthesiologists score of 4 or more
