Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion
- 100 patients with acute pancreatitis admitted at Assiut university hospital and the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis is confirmed if at least two of the following three features present:
- abdominal pain characteristic of acute pancreatitis.
- serum amylase and/or lipase greater than 3 times the upper limit of normal .
- radiographically demonstrated acute pancreatitis on CT scan or abdominal ultrasound.
Exclusion
- Patients are excluded from the study if they do not meet the criteria for acute pancreatitis
- Patients who are under the age of 16.
- Patients with chronic pancreatitis.
- Patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis
