Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • Patients intubated because of respiratory failure following nosocomial pneumonia

Exclusion

  • Terminal patients
  • Patients with lung cancer
  • Intubated for more than 24 hours at the sampling time
  • Not fulfilling the CDC criteria for nosocomial pneumonia
