Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • elective cardiac surgery (coronary arteries and/or valve replacement)
  • ASA physical status III or less

Exclusion

  • pregnancy
  • previous cardiac surgery
  • myocardial infarction (\< 6 weeks)
  • renal failure
  • severe chronic pulmonary disease.
