- Term and preterm neonates admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)
- Decision to conduct full life support
- Written informed consent
Exclusion
- No decision to conduct full life support
- No written informed consent
- Congenital malformations
- Family history of haemoglobinopathies (e.g. sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemia)
