Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion
- deeply sedated and intubated adults with COPD exacerbation, PaCO2 ≥ 45 mmHg and no signs of respiratory effort
- sign the informed consent
Exclusion
- Persistent air-leaks, severe hemodynamic instability, pregnancy or intracranial hypertension were exclusion criteria.
